Is a feast for your senses – spectacular scenery as you gaze through over-sized windows of your luxury dome railway car…listening to an experienced tour guide explaining the history of what you’re passing through…wonderful aromas wafting up from the dining car below where you will later enjoy superb gourmet cuisine. This is what traveling on the luxurious Rocky Mountaineer is all about.
The Rocky Mountaineer has short – less than a day – trips and three longer routes than run through British Columbia, Alberta and some all the way to the East Coast. And, starting in 2013, it includes trips departing from Seattle, Washington. You will travel by daylight and spend nights in either luxury hotels and lodges or popular hotels – this will vary according to the service level you choose.
You will have the option of traveling in one of three experiences while onboard. The true luxury experience is the GoldLeaf Service where you sit in reclining seats in an upper dome car and venture downstairs to a beautifully appointed dining car for your meals. Onboard hosts will see to your needs and explain the scenery outside the panoramic windows as you travel from one stunning destination to another. This level service includes all beverages and meal choices. Hotel accommodations will be very luxurious throughout your vacation.
Their SilverLeaf Service seats you in comfortable seats in a single level dome car where you will also enjoy delicious meals and complimentary wine with lunch. Non-alcoholic beverages are also included in this service level. You will stay in popular hotels in each destination.
Rocky Mountaineer’s RedLeaf Service includes cold meals served at your roomy seat in a single level railroad car. Complimentary wine is served with lunch and all non-alcoholic beverages are included. Popular hotels will host you overnight. All three levels provide transfers from the train to the hotels daily.
Remember to take your binoculars with you because you will be seeing wildlife including – bears, bighorn sheep, elk, osprey and eagles – in addition to spectacular snow-capped mountains and roaring streams. Along with gourmet meals, their culinary department is able to handle all dietary requests (please advise of this when making your reservations.)
Travel and Leisure calls these trips “One of the World’s Best Life Changing Trips,” and it’s considered the “Best Rail Vacation” by Travel Weekly.
