Azamara Cruises

What a great cruiseline this is – situated between the mainstream cruiselines and the luxury cruiselines.  With their smaller ships they can go into smaller ports where the larger ships cannot go.  At the time of this writing, gratuities are included and wine is served with both lunch and dinner.  These are both terrific amenities and a cost savings besides.  They also offer a reduced single supplement occasionally and as a solo traveler I greatly appreciate that.

Their staterooms are very comfortable with plenty of closet and drawer space and offer small but adequate bathrooms.  My room featured a private balcony, a workable desk (this article!), plus a very nice sitting area. The Azamara crew was terrific and I had the pleasure of enjoying dinner with both the cruise director and assistant cruise director; both of these gentlemen are very talented and an excellent time was had by all.  The food is excellent from their early risers breakfast up on deck to their late night room service (which I sampled the first night, having missed dinner.) and all the meals in between,  I especially enjoyed their outdoor Italian buffet the night we were anchored off the Amalfi Coast.  Magnificent – in both food and atmosphere.  So far, I have only sampled one of their specialty eateries and I look forward to trying Prime C on my next Azamara cruise.

In addition to staterooms and suites handling just under 700 people, this ship has an open seating dining room called, Discoveries, two alternative restaurants (extra charge does apply), a buffet restaurant (indoors and outdoors) a poolside grill, a casino, a piano bar, three other lounges and a showroom with a bar.  In addition there is a spa, gym, swimming pool and hot tubs along with a sports deck for walkers and joggers.  You will find a couple of boutiques, a library, internet café and a camera shop offering copies of shipboard photos in addition to camera, film and accessories. Room service is available 24 hours a day but the menu is limited outside of traditional mealtime hours. Entertainment includes nightly shows varying from a single performer to a Broadway style production show, a piano bar, karoeke, and a late night disco nightclub.  Dance lessons are also offered on a regular basis.

Azamara sails around the world in 7-day and longer cruises with longer stops, many of them overnight in ports.  With their smaller ships, they are able to go into ports many of the larger ships cannot visit.  Please let us know how we can help you plan an extraordinary cruise on Azamara.
