Now, here is a luxury cruise line which does it up right. From being welcomed onboard with a chilled glass of champagne… to room stewards knowing your name and likes/dislike almost immediately…to a smaller ship that can go into smaller ports… to excellent food and impeccable service, Crystal is the epitome of true luxury. Since their two ships, the Serenity, and the Symphony, hold only 1000 passengers, it’s easy to meet both guests and crew. To me, this really increases the cruise experience. Being all-inclusive means never being ‘nickeled and dimed” while enjoying fancy coffees, sodas and adult beverages.
The staterooms are well appointed and the double sinks in the bathroom makes it so easy for two people to get ready at the same time. Most staterooms feature a bathtub as well as a shower. Their penthouse suites are wonderful and very spacous. The smallness of the ships, make it convenient to everything onboard.
Activities on board include bridge, knitting, dancing, night club shows, daily tea with live music, a cigar lounge, a piano bar, casino, various computer classes, a computer lounge, a library and other pursuits. There is open seating in the main dining room and there are two alternative restaurants – an Asian eatery with a sushi bar and an Italian restaurant, Prego. The mushroom soup I enjoyed at Prego was superb! For breakfast you can dine in the main dining room or enjoy a large buffet on one of the upper decks. The buffet also offers a large variety of luncheon dishes daily. There is also a bistro which is where you’ll stop often for lunch, snack, or indulge at a delicious chocolate dessert buffet late evenings. A bar and café are out by the pool deck with delicious hamburgers, pizzas and sandwiches. Room service is available 24/7 – the French Onion soup was excellent.
