Meeting of the Waters is where the waters of Lough Lein and Muckross Lake meet the water from the Upper Lake at the Old Wier Bridge. Expect to walk for 12-15 minutes to arrive at the bridge. You will also find Dinus Cottage nearby – it’s s former hunting lodge that dates back to the 1700’s. Today, you will find an excellent selection of baked goods in the spring, summer and fall months. .
The Gap of Dunhoe is not to be missed and it’s a short drive from Killarney itself. The erosion from centuries of glacial ice has created a stunning, narrow pass which separates Magillicuddy’s Reeks from Purple Mount and the northern foothills.
One of the most popular attractions on the Emerald Isle, is Muckross House and Gardens. It’s the center of the national park and a Victorian mansion that was finished in 1843. Expect to see elegantly furnished living quarters above and the most Spartan of servant’s quarters below. It all depicts the style of living in the yesteryear of Ireland, prior to the discovery of electricity. The gardens are spectacular and well known for its azaleas, rhododendrons along with its water garden and rock garden.
