This is an elegant hotel located in a row of stately Victorian townhomes near Harrod’s and the Victoria and Albert Museum. It overlooks the beautiful Egerton Gardens. The Franklin’s interior is opulent with Anouska Hempel’s elegant embroidered furnishings, filigree silverware and Venetian stone floors invoke the spirit of an era goneby. This hotel very recently – in mid-September, 2016 – opened its doors in London.
You’ll find only 35 guestrooms at the Franklin Hotel and they are furnished with flatscreen TVs with Bluetooth technology and Jenson phones and the lovely marble bathrooms feature separate walk-in showers for bathtubs and Penhaligan toiletries. Oak floors, lofty Victorian style windows and four poster beds are featured in many of the rooms. Many rooms feature a king size bed which is a rarity in Britain. You’ll enjoy a view of Knightsbridge or the Egerton Gardens.
Alfredo Russo is the hotel’s master chef and he brings simple Italian cooking with his own flair to his specialties. He is also the recipient of Italy’s Young Chef award. The restaurant itself seats only 30 guests and is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Nearby is the Franklin Bar. In addition to a dramatic nightly “champagne sabering” ritual, they offer seven different Champagnes available by the glass or bottle, 22 types of gin and an extensive martini menu, with an aperitivo menu of small dishes.
A fitness center on the lower level features a Hamman treatment room. A personal trainer is available upon request.
